After loading the Share module, select either "Export" to share an aspect of your start page with others, or "Import" to incorporate someone elses shared data into your start page.
Export
| What to Export | This version supports the following 4 options: Multiple-URL Link, Search Form, Subject and Engram. The export procedure is the same for each. |
| Format | The 'Web Page' option tells StartGen to create a Web page containing the exported data. This page includes some Javascript code to make it easier for visitors to copy it to their Windows clipboard. If the 'Email' format is specified, StartGen formats the data for direct import into StartGen by another user. |
| Which One | If this dropdown list is empty, it means that you don't have of the selected type defined. When you select one, the textbox below is automatically filled in with the data you need to share in the specified format. If you change the format, you will need to reselect the item from this dropdown in order to update the generated text. |
| Copy To Clipboard | Clicking this button will copy the text in the box above it to the Windows clipboard. Using this button as opposed to Cntrl-C ensures that you get the entire contents of the textbox. If you select the 'Web Page' format, at this point you should open up Notepad.exe in your Windows directory or some other text editor and paste this text into a new file by pressing Ctrl-V. Then save the file with an 'htm" extension and it is ready to be uploaded to your Web site. When a user visits this page, they can just click the "Select Text" button |
| Send Email | If you have email set up on your PC, clicking this button will open an email message. You can then move to the body of the new message and press Ctrl-V (hold down the 'Ctrl' key and press the 'V' key) or Ctrl-Ins to paste the content of the Windows clipboard into the message. |
Import
If you are going to import a multi-URL link or search form, select the subject to receive the new link before entering the shared module. Selecting a category is not enough. You must select a subject from the list of subjects on the left side of the main screen. Otherwise, the data will be imported into the last subject you selected from this list. If you are importing a subject, then select the category to receive the imported subject before selecting the Share option.
